In a bold move to champion environmental sustainability, the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has partnered with Kenya Airways PLC to restore 200 hectares of degraded Maragoli Hills Forest.
The initiative aligns with Kenya’s ambitious 15 billion tree-growing initiative, underscoring a shared commitment to a greener, more resilient future.
To amplify their impact, KFS has also inked a Memorandum of Understanding with Fahari Aviation Limited, a subsidiary of Kenya Airways. This collaboration will harness cutting-edge technology, including drones and advanced surveillance systems, to revolutionize forest monitoring, combat illegal activities, and bolster reforestation efforts.
“Technology is a game-changer in forest conservation. Through this collaboration, we are strengthening our capacity to protect and restore Kenya’s forests,” remarked CCF Alex Lemarkoko.
Allan Kilavuka, CEO of Kenya Airways, echoed this sentiment, stating, “The adoption of Maragoli Hills Forest aligns with our environmental goals, ensuring a greener and more resilient future for generations to come.”
The partnership highlights KFS’s dedication to innovation in forest management, leveraging technology and corporate collaboration to accelerate reforestation, combat climate change, and safeguard Kenya’s natural ecosystems. Together, they are paving the way for a sustainable tomorrow.
